Toyota RAV4: Delivering Style and Practicality

The Toyota RAV4 stands out from other SUVs in Mt. Pleasant with its fun styling, excellent safety, and available hybrid powertrain. The most recent model also comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense P, which includes a range of advanced driver-assistive features, like Lane Departure Alert and a Pre-Collision System that includes Pedestrian Detection. You can count on your RAV4 to do more than just keep you safe; more than 90 percent of these SUVs sold within the last 10 years can still be found on the road today.

The RAV4 can be as luxurious as you want with available features like the 5-door Smart Key System, LED exterior lighting, heated front seats, and leather on the steering wheel. You should also expect the latest technology, such as standard Entune to keep you connected with the ability to upgrade to versions with navigation, the Entune App Suite, and premium audio. One of the biggest draws of the Toyota RAV4 is its available hybrid powertrain, something that is rare for the segment. While the regular RAV4 is powerful, the RAV4 Hybrid is even more impressive with 194 net horsepower, 34 mpg in the city, and standard Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive with Intelligence.

Enhancements & Updates to the 2018 Toyota RAV4

The RAV4 gets a brand new trim level for the 2018 model year: the Adventure Edition. This trim is perfect if you plan on taking your 2018 RAV4 into the "great outdoors." It comes well-equipped with all-weather mats, tow prep package, increased ride height and eighteen-inch wheels. The Adventure Edition is just one of six trim levels to choose from on the 2018 RAV4. You can also take your pick from LE, XLE, SE, Limited, and Platinum trims in the 2018 RAV4 lineup.

Demand for compact crossovers has never been higher, and the RAV4 sits among the top performers in this category. With the exciting new additions to the 2018 RAV4 lineup, we certainly don't expect that to change.

RAV4 History: How This Toyota Has Changed

The 1996 Toyota RAV4 claimed the title of first crossover SUV to be available in North America. It was based on the same platform as the Corolla and has gone through multiple generations. Within the first few years, Toyota updated the interior styling, headlights, taillights, and grille. A RAV4 convertible arrived in 1998, and few changes were made during the following years. The 2001 RAV4 got larger as well as more powerful with updated styling.

For 2004, Toyota gave the RAV4 a mid-cycle update that included stylistic changes, traction control, stability control, antilock brakes, multiple extra airbags, six speakers, and a 161-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder. In 2006, the RAV4 got a bigger frame that also increased the interior space, along with a new V6. Front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags were added for 2007. In 2009, this SUV got updates to the grille and bumper. This Toyota went through another redesign for the 2013 model year. The new generation featured a sleeker, more aerodynamic appearance; newly optional Dynamic Torque Control all-wheel drive; and a new 6-speed automatic. A backup camera became standard that year, with Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Traffic Alert both becoming options. The infotainment system was also updated.
